The cave where his mother had burned to death.
He swalled hard, emotions churning in hid chest as the memory became clearer.
It had been a hot day, yet another in a sereies of vicious and cruel beatings. His mother had tried to protect him, but his father had raged and dragged her into the woods, into the Black Forest.
